In WENDY WU: HOMECOMING WARRIOR, Disney Channel star Brenda Song (THE SUITE LIFE OF ZACK & CODY) portrays the ultimate Asian American teenager: a martial arts master whose after-school activities include campaigning for Homecoming Queen, performing extreme makeovers on monks and battling ancient evil sorcerers.
Wendy is the popular girl in high school and has her heart set on winning the Homecoming Queen title. Her world is turned upside down when a monk from China, Shen (Shin Koyamada, THE LAST SAMURAI), arrives at her front door with news that she is the latest descendant in a line of powerful female warriors. Her mission is to defeat the evil sorcerer Yan Lo, who re-emerges every 90 years with intentions of world domination. Can Wendy put her Homecoming dreams aside long enough to save the world?
WENDY WU is an inspiring Asian American film on many fronts. Wendy, the beautiful, resourceful and strong protagonist, is a wonderful role model for young girls of all ages and races. She’s surrounded by strong, positive Asian American men; brother Peter is a star football player, and monk Shen is admired by Wendy and her gal pals. Featuring dynamic stunts and incredible wirework that’s undeniably the best martial-arts fighting that television has yet seen, WENDY WU is an enormously entertaining crowd-pleaser that’s fun for the whole family.
