A poignant sports comedy about overcoming failure for the sake of family, FOOTY LEGENDS tackles the heartfelt story of Vietnamese Australian Luc Vu as he fights for his family by playing the biggest rugby match of his life.

Luc and his friends were once rugby champions, but those glory days have long faded as each find themselves unemployed and wasting away their days in suburban Sydney, with their rugby skills no longer even good enough to beat a team of toothless garbage men. Undeterred, Luc still has a smile for his elevenyear-old sister Anne, whom he has cared for ever since their mother
passed away.

When the state threatens to take Anne away unless Luc can prove he can care for her, he turns to the one thing he has ever been good at: rugby. To prevent losing his sister, Luc must reunite his old team and win against the toughest rugby team they have ever played against. In addition, Luc must overcome the temptations that threaten to tear the team apart, and face down his own grandfather, who has never forgiven him for his failures.

Director Khoa Do’s film follows his critically acclaimed 2003 work, THE FINISHED PEOPLE, which was nominated for two AFI Awards and three Film Critics’ Circle Australia Awards. As the Australian paper The Daily Telegraph writes, FOOTY LEGENDS “has a big heart and an inclusive sense of humour,” and guarantees that “few moviegoers will leave without a smile on their face.”
