How to Throw a Party

Tips on holding an event for your film during the SFIAAFF

To celebrate the premiere of your film, or simply to gather friends and audiences together, holding a private party during the Festival can be a fun and easily-organized activity. Here are some tips on how put together your party.

Suggested Venues

Below is a list of venues which we recommend. Many are quite close to the festival’s screening venues. Booking times at these venues early is important, as their schedules do fill up.

Dot Lounge, Radisson Miyako Hotel

1625 Post Street, Japantown: Three blocks from 1000 Van Ness

Located just three blocks from the AMC Van Ness Theatres, the Dot Lounge offers full restaurant and bar service. The two level venue (located in the Radisson Miyako Hotel) can accommodate larger groups – the smaller upstairs can be used for an exclusive event, the whole restaurant can be used for bigger events.

111 Minna Gallery

111 Minna Street, between Second and First

A spacious art gallery with full bar located in San Francisco’s downtown/South of Market district. Can accommodate up to 450 people, a car or cab is needed to reach 111 Minna Gallery from the Festival’s screening venues.

Nirvana Restaurant

This swanky pan-Asian noodle house offers a great menu of tasty drinks, as well as outdoor, back patio that can be used for small private gatherings (can fit 40-50 people).
