The 27th San Francisco International Asian American Film Festival is proud to announce its 1st annual Student Delegate Program. The program aims to engage students with Asian and Asian American cinema, and to cultivate the next generation of scholars, artists, administrators and activists invested in the field of Asian American media.
As part of the Student Delegate Program, participants have the opportunity to:
-Participate in a structured program of screenings, events and meetings
-Access other festival events, i.e. panels, talks and parties
-Write a blog and article for the Festival website
Students will act as true delegates of the festival and share their experience with their peers.
MEET THE DELEGATES

Anjuna Rose Antony
4th yr student, De Anza College, Cupertino
I was born on a Thursday during tea-time in the tropical paradise of Kochi, in Southern India. I grew up in a catholic family of story-tellers and travelers. At the peak of my illustrious acting career (age 15), I decided to retire and move to California. I am currently pursuing my dream career of storytelling (and world domination) in California. Watch out for my brilliant screenplays in the near future or thereabouts!

Rebecca Chan
2nd yr student, University of San Francisco,
San Francisco
Rebecca’s got a ticket to ride to Milan in about a year. But for now, she’s at USF, prodding at her schedule to make it fit European football time and lurking around the interwebs during breaks. A Media Studies major, she’s currently eye-twitchingly hashing out her latest video project. She likes to keep track of epic wardrobe fail and is guiltily attached to things from the 90s that no one really wants to remember.

Luc-Van Luong
1st yr student, Stanford University, Palo Alto
Hailing from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, having lived and schooled among both the discriminated and the privileged, Luc-Van has concluded that vastly different people still share an appreciation for laughter and the beauty of life. His love of history and theatre, as well as a very nurturing family, has also taught him to live intently and always with invention. In most of his non-academic waking hours, Luc-Van rehearses plays and reads biographies.

Van Nguyen
4th yr student, University of California, Berkeley
Hello! I’m Van Nguyen and I’m a senior, English major/ Asian American Studies minor, at U.C. Berkeley. While I was born here in California, I grew up in Shanghai and Singapore; which has greatly inspired my love for both travelling and writing. Although I’m not nearly as well-versed in film as I would like to be, I do love all sorts of movies from Hitchcock to Pixar to… well anything! I’ve only been able to attend this film festival once (about three years ago), so I’m very excited to be a part of this program!

Lauren Winsor Stenmoe
3rd year student, Academy of Art University, San Francisco
Lauren Winsor Stenmoe is a film student at the Academy of Art University studying Video Editing and Screenwriting. She hopes to use her degrees to work in Television or Advertising. Born and raised in Saint Paul, Minnesota, she contracted a slight but ridiculous accent as a result. Lauren is beyond thrilled to have the opportunity to be apart of the SFIAAFF delegate program and is looking forward to falling even deeper in love with Asian Film!

Laura Thatcher
3rd year student, University of California, Davis
Born and raised by the beach in southern California, Laura is currently a third year student at University of California at Davis where she is majoring in Technocultural Studies and Art Studio. In other words, she hangs out for school credit with fellow nerds that like to make things, with the shared goal of someday putting bread on the table doing the things we love.
Tracy Wang
2nd year student, University of California, Berkeley
Hello there, my name is Tracy and I love film. I am currently a second year intending to major in film studies at U.C. Berkeley, Go Bears! A few quick facts about me: I really like the color green, my favorite animal is the sloth, and I am from the Bay Area. I am really excited to be a part of the Student Delegate Program and interact with everyone who’s part of the Festival!
